Pit. Former office is now a dwelling.*
Worked down to the level of the collapsed access tunnel. Several structures remain: the base for the oil engine is still present on the site. The weigh house has survived and has since been rebuilt.
Unnamed Hillside Quarry
History ⛰️
This operation was a small hillside quarry where working proceeded progressively downward, eventually forming a pit. The site possessed a small mill where processing took place. Notably, in the early 1920s, the mill was equipped with an oil-engine powered diamond saw, indicating a degree of mechanisation in its later years. Transport of the finished slate was accomplished by cart down the valley. There is also a suggestion that some of the raw output may have been taken to Hafod Arthen for conversion into hone stones.
