Wellhope Shaft was commissioned by the Vielle Montagne Company in 1925 to exploit several deposits discovered between the wars. This shaft reached a depth of 416 feet and connected with the Nentsberry Haggs Mine, near the intersection of the High Raise and Dupont veins. Ore extracted from Wellhope was transported via an aerial flight to the New Mill at Nenthead for further processing.
