Natural water-eroded sandstone caves which is quite uncommon. Exploited later for the extraction of very pale scouring sand. Irregular pillar and stall type structure. Oldest graffiti noted was from 1838 which likley co-incides with them becoming a tourist spot (everywhere had ‘fairy caves’) and nothing to do with sand extraction

In December 2025 the 7.5 acre field where the cave mouths are was sold for £66000



Adjacent to a public footpath and access is shared with the local dairy cattle when they are in the field.
