Shafts and spoil heaps located on the edge of the quarry’s buffer zone. Earthwork evidence indicates the presence of a dried-up reservoir on the southern and western edges of the buffer zone, which would have once been fed by leats. The derelict stone mine buildings are currently used as animal shelters at SJ18957150.
Located in Carboniferous Limestone with chert beds, and later 19th-century mining activity has obscured earlier evidence of mining operations. The mine was worked continuously for over a century, following an east-west vein throughout its operation.
