Old Level marked at given location on 1900 1:10,560 OS map, although references below suggest closer to viaduct.
Mindat states:
One of two of the most northerly mines (see also Prince Edward Mine) within the Merioneth gold-mining area, being isolated some 6 miles further north of the next most northerly group of mines, which includes the well-known Gwynfnydd Mine.
Although the mine has not been properly located it is said to lie in the area of OS grid square SH7738 (Morrison), and close to the [disused] railway viaduct (Hall).
The mine appaers to have been opened in 1895 and was then aquired by Arenig Mining Company (under the name of the Arenig Mine) in 1897, who undertook most of the work. It was finally taken over by the Roman Gold & Silver Mines Ltd. in 1910, but no additional work was undertaken.
Output figures appear for five years between 1898 and 1908, 68 tons of gold ore producing 35 ounces of gold.
WMS 11 states:
These workings went under the railway in Cwm Prysor and John Burman has found on the tips a splendid specimen of gold in a small piece of weathered quartz.
