Early workings in the area extend southward from Alltgymbyd Farm toward Bod Idris Hall, appearing as open cuts that traverse the limestone ridges, along with possible trial pits in the lower ground. These features suggest early exploratory mining efforts. A single shaft is located in a field south of the farm at SJ 2045 5475, while two more shafts can be identified within woodland at SJ 2050 5444. Another shaft sits on the edge of the woods at SJ 2055 5425.

The distinction between the workings of Alltgymbyd and those of the Bod Idris Mine further south is unclear
