Lady Fielding shaft is situated to the northwest of the crossroads near the Rock Tavern. This deep, stone-lined shaft remains open and unfenced, positioned on the western side of the Grade II Listed Pumping Engine House at SJ 1450 7670.

The most prominent surviving structure on the site is the stone-built engine house. Though in a poor state of repair, it still stands at its full height of approximately five meters. The building consists of two storeys, a slate roof, and a chimney, suggesting it was adapted for later use. Timber lintels remain intact, and the interior retains original features such as the stairway and beams. The opening above the shaft has been sealed.

A distinctive mine-related feature is the entrance to Ty Maen at SJ 1440 7660, which bears a stone slab inscribed with “230 yds above sea-level.” The original mining sett, as mapped on the first edition OS Sheet V.12, covers the area currently occupied by the Lloc Service Station. The location of the service station’s showroom suggests that it may have once served as the mine office.

The Lloc Mining Company operated at the western end of the Merllyn Vein.

Several shafts depicted on the first edition OS Sheet V.12, located to the north of the mine, may have also been worked by Merllyn Mine. In the 1850s, a horse pulley shaft was reportedly in operation, potentially corresponding to an unlocated shaft to the west of the A5026 road near the Lloc Service Station. Additional shaft mounds are scattered in the fields north of the Engine House at SJ 1420 7720, lying west of the adjacent woodland. Mining returns for West Merllyn from 1861 to 1889 (Burt, 64) likely pertain to the same mining area.

An 1857 reference mentions a horse pulley shaft sunk by John Ames and Co., providing further historical context for the site’s operations.
