‘Ampitheatre’ marked as a large depression in the hillside. Adit blocked by fallen trees. Copper ore apparant on the dumps.

The mine was worked many hundreds of years ago by the ancients and is proved by the stone hammers which have been found and the Amphitheatre that has been formed there. There is no doubt that the Copper was humped out in baskets or other receptacles… Stone hammers have been found in the old workings down to depths of 40 ft and there were traces of Water Races. Since it has been in the possession of the present owners and adit level has been driven 205 ft through the soild rock and from that a communication has been made from the top of the mountain to something like 80 odd feet and driven from the bottom to a distance of 20 feet in a Northerly direction. A winze has been sunk to a depth of 60 feet …
