Cave formed by extraction of scouring sand.
In the 1800s a group of locals used it as a base and as well as selling the sand they stole cheese and eggs from local farms. Seven were executed for their crimes in 1834.



Within woodland owned by the Bolesworth Estate. Public footpath nearby and access tolerated. (CAUTION: some areas of the woodland are managed for pheasant shooting)
